LKT wins coveted Translator of the Year award at ATC Language Industry Summit 2019
LKT’s Lead Translator Siobhan Gorrie has won one of the coveted Language Industry Awards 2019, hosted by the Association of Translation Companies at its annual Summit, held this year at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich.
Siobhan’s award was collected on her behalf by company director Louise Killeen at a glittering ceremony on board the iconic Cutty Sark, in the presence of language industry professionals from across the UK and Europe, representing leading translation companies, large and small.
Siobhan’s entry stood out among the remarkable variation and high standards of the entries, reflecting the professionalism and commitment to excellence across the industry generally.
The judges were particularly impressed with LKT’s entry. They said, “Siobhan won for her outstanding dedication and loyalty in her work. She is not only responsible for producing high-quality translations in her role, she is also mentor, coach and is able to step in for the Managing Director when needed. Siobhan’s willingness, expertise and reliability are stand-out. Apart from Siobhan’s professionalism and linguistic expertise, the judges would especially like to commend her dedication as a mentor to new entrants in the translation profession in LKT’s Translator Academy.”
The Association of Translation Companies (ATC) has been representing the interests of translation companies for more than 40 years. As the language sector’s leading professional body, the ATC prides itself on a forward-thinking stance dedicated to maintaining the highest possible industry standards while supporting its members to thrive and grow in the competitive global economy.
Commenting on their win, company director Louise Killeen said: “We are extremely proud of Siobhan. It is a great privilege to win this award, among such stiff competition and high standards across the language services industry. Siobhan works extremely hard and this award is testament to her dedication, commitment to our customers, and personal and professional achievements. As LKT celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2019, it is a fitting tribute to have her contributions and accomplishments recognised at the ATC Awards.”
The ATC’s CEO, Raisa McNab, stated: “It’s a special feeling to come together to celebrate excellence in our industry. Language service companies are full of skilled, capable and competent people, and we don’t sing their praises enough. The winners and finalists of this year’s Language Industry Awards deserve to be recognised for their outstanding achievements. Very many congratulations to you all!”
